WHAT WE DO

The Dignity Principles and other resources presented here are offered as a first proposal.  Our aim is to respect, gather and share existing knowledge around dignified practice. We are actively seeking partnerships with organisations and funding to take this work forward.

What have we done so far?

  • Report on Hunger Trauma: Understanding Experiences of Food Insecurity & Emergency Food Support published in partnership with Adur & Worthing Food Partnership

  • Carl & Ronald invited to speak at the first Lewes District Food Summit

  • Co-production workshops held at Kingston University with community food volunteers, food partnership coordinators & representatives from Feeding Britain, IFAN, Sustain, Brighton & Hove Food Partnership, Sufra NW, Church Action on Poverty and more

  • ADFS Website Launched as an opportunity for food support organisations to engage

  • Dignity Toolkit developed and made available - opportunity for organisations to audit their own practice, develop an action plan, and reflect on the impact of any change

  • Online webinars and information sessions delivered through local and national networks, including IFAN, Feeding Britain & Sustainable Food Places

  • Small scale pilots including evaluation and development delivered with food banks in Lewes & Hastings

  • Report on Managing Hunger Trauma: Systemic Betrayal, Moral Injury & Distress in Staff & Volunteers published

  • ADFS LinkedIn page set up to engage more deeply in policy conversations

  • Hunger Trauma workshop hosted by Sustain to explore how systemic failures in UK food policy are driving moral distress, burnout, and psychological harm in a workforce propping up a broken welfare system

  • Workshops planned through Autumn 2025 to develop a piece of collective action around the rights of staff & volunteers in the community food sector
